Fireplace lazy pilot light orange and more vertical than horizontal

My fireplace is Heat N Glo BayShore if that matter. It is discontinued for a while already.
The pilot light of my fireplace is orange and more vertical than horizontal.
I barely cover the thermocouple so the pilot light valve sometimes shut off and the flame dies.
I have already cleaned the thermocouple and thermopile.
Since the pilot light is weak and orange, I think the orifice is dirty.
What is the best way to clean it without taking out the pilot assembly?
The screw that screw the assembly is rusted and hard to remove.
I called a tech and he wants to sell me a new fireplace. And quote me the assembly for $650 not including labour.
I checked and the assembly only cost $105.
I am lucky that he didnt run the red tag scam and force me to buy a new fireplace for a dirty orifice.
I find that the amount of tech who would like to sell you a new fireplace than fixing it is 100:1.
Or may be I am just unlucky.
Any suggestions?
