Classic Plus Series: 80% AFUE Downflow (R801T)

Heylo HVAC Pros,

Recently, I retired a 23 years old Rheem Criterion II gas furnace along with a 16 years old American Std. A/C. The furnace was in excellence condition when I let her go, mostly due to her old age, rust, and out of warranty heat exchanger. As for the A/C, multiple leaks & zero freon. In my previous house, I ran the original 1959 furnace till it die. I remembered woke up in the early morning with no heat & strong gas smell. I didn't want to experience that situation again, so I replaced this furnace (Rheem Criterion II) while I have the luxury of time. Btw, I'm in Seattle, Washington, second homeowner.

Here are my questions:

1) How many more years do you think Rheem Criterion II would've last if I didn't replace her?

2) How reliable is Genteq Ensite Plus ECM?
Part# 51-107392-09

3) After parts warranty expired, is it possible to downgrade my blower motor to a PSC?
If ECM is a money sucking POS, I'm thinking of replacing the control board & blower motor with Rheem previous model w/o ECM to avoid expensive replacement cost.

Current own unit: Rheem R801TA100521ZSB (ECM)

Future downgrade unit: Rheem R801SA100521ZSB (PSC)

These two units have the same specification, the only difference is blower motor, control board, blower motor bracket, and PSC need capacitor. What do you guys think? Am I over my head or is this doable?

Goal: Reliability > Energy efficiency!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
