Was my 2 stage heat pump a waste of money? Should I have got a single stage?

Hello, forum members!

I have a 3-ton and a 5-ton heat pump from Luxaire.

Y2 out from the defrost board is on about 80-90% of time, which I would of thought / hoped would only be on in times of high demand.

Here is my data:

3-ton

Compressor heat 1 2.2kw, fan 170 watts

Compressor heat 2 2.6kw, fan 525 watts

5-ton

Compressor heat 1 2.7 -3.1kw, fan 360 watts

Compressor heat 2 4kw, fan 879 watts

Any comments / thoughts are more than welcome!
