My home is a beaut. For reals. Next on the list is to fix the downdraft. Basement has updraft that has a condenser for the main floor.
Next to that is the downdraft for the basement. The venting is below grade which is all concrete. The venting runs are rectangular with cinder block on each side with concrete on top and packed earth below. (I'm sure the builder intended on laying something in there to deliver the hot air but just never got around to it.)
There is a constant mildew smell in the basement venting, so we've opted to just not use it. My HVAC guy was thinking he could fish in some insulated flexible duct throughout and connect it to Tees at each register.
Let me know if we are on the right track or if there is a better way.
