I have a Heil gas furnace with a LP conversion kit at my lake place, so I'm hoping to fix it myself because it will be a minimum of $200 just to show up at the door! The model number of the furnace is gde050b12a2. This spring I realized the propane tank was empty. The gas guy filled it and pressurized the system and he was able to get the furnace working before he left. Since then, the furnace won't heat. The furnace will click and the igniter will glow orange but then will go out again and the burners will not kick in. The little motor on the top does kick in and spin.
I replaced the filter. I also removed the igniter/flame sensor and cleaned it but no change. I replaced the igniter/flame sensor unit. It was a little different in appearance, but the part stated it was a replacement for my original Honeywell Q3400A1024 and was silicon nitride instead of silicon carbide. The replacement igniter was not a Honeywell brand if that matters.
Again the furnace will click, the new igniter will glow orange for about a minute and then go out before retrying again a couple more times. I might have seen a blue flame one time if I remember correctly. What else can I try to get the furnace burners to kick in and heat?
