I wanted to get an idea as to how much it will cost to run our new furnace ECM blower 24/7 this winter as I think it will help evenly heat our house. I wanted to measure the current draw of the fan but wasn't sure the best way to do it at the furnace with the panels on, so I measured at the breaker box on the furnace circuit and used an amp clamp. With the system off I had a reading of 0.18 amps, the fan only running 0.47 amps, and stage 1 heat running 2.65 amps. With a line voltage of 121 volts, this gives me 22 watts with nothing running, 57 watts fan only running, and 321 watts with stage 1 heat running. We pay roughly .11 per kWh so if all of my measurements and calculations are correct, to run the fan 24/7 cost 0.15 per day. To me, this just doesn't seem right, and was curious about what others thought about this. Am I measuring and calculating this correctly?
